Fashion and Textiles is a peer-reviewed journal. It focuses on four main subjects: textile science and technology, clothing science and technology, economics of clothing and textiles/fashion business, and fashion design and cultural study of fashion. The journal’s mission is to advance knowledge and new perspectives in fashion and textiles worldwide. The journal is useful for the book reviews, case studies, and original research.

Costume is a scholarly publication presenting current research into historic and contemporary dress. The journal publishes articles from a broad chronological period and with a worldwide focus; it maintains a balance between practice and theory and concentrates on the social significance of dress.

The Journal of Dress History is the academic publication and peer-reviewed journal of The Association of Dress Historians. The journal currently only has two volumes. Although relatively new and possibly defunct the issues of the journal that are posted offer a scholarly approach to the history of fashion. The journal includes original research, PhD theses, reviews, and helpful guides for conducting research.

“Fashion, Style & Popular Culture is a peer-reviewed journal specifically dedicated to the area of fashion scholarship and its interfacings with popular culture.” The journal allows for both written and visual submissions. It includes subjects on history, manufacturing, psychology, and sociology. The journal is aimed at scholars looking for new and cutting edge approaches to scholarship.

The journal was founded in 1997, it is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Routledge. Fashion Theory covers the study of fashion through the fields of sociology, art history, economics, and anthropology. The focus of the journal is on the body in society. It also reviews exhibition and academic publications.

Fashion Theory
Students in the MA program at Parsons School of Design founded the journal in 2012. Initially the journal was an academic journal and platform for graduate-level writing. Now the journal is no longer focused strictly on academic writing but still focuses on fashion and fashion related themes and fields. This journal is not the most rigorous but does offer unique perspectives and starting points in the field of history of fashion.
